Former Head of Stavropol Road Police Sentenced

The court has sentenced Alexey Safonov, the former head of the Stavropol Region Road Police, to 20 years in prison. Safonov has been sentenced to a strict regime colony. The Cherkessk City Court found him guilty of creating a criminal group, abuse of official powers, and receiving bribes.

He was also fined 100 million rubles. During a search of Safonov's home, luxury furniture, elite cars, and plumbing was discovered, including gold-plated toilets.
