The Newly Elected Pope of Rome Calls for Peace
Julya
The Pope of Rome, Levon XIV, has called for the establishment of just and lasting peace in Ukraine and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, accompanied by the release of hostages and the provision of humanitarian aid.
“I appeal to the world’s great powers, reiterating the constant call of ‘never again war’,” said the Catholic leader, quoting Pope Francis. “In my heart, I carry the sufferings of the beloved Ukrainian people. Let everything possible be done to achieve real, just, and lasting peace as soon as possible,” he stated.
Pope Levon XIV also urged for the release of prisoners of war and the return of Ukrainian children to their families, while welcoming the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
