Erdogan Responds to Putin
Turkey is ready to make any contributions, including organizing negotiations, to ensure a ceasefire and sustainable peace in Ukraine. This was announced by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a phone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.
“President Erdogan stated that the war between Ukraine and Russia has reached a historical turning point in the path to ceasefire, and it is necessary to seize this opportunity. Turkey is ready to make any investment, including organizing negotiations, to ensure a ceasefire and sustainable peace,” the Turkish leader's press office reported.
Erdogan also emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation for the resumption of permanent peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia and for the process of Ukraine's recovery.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin and informed him that Ankara is ready to host negotiations regarding Ukraine.
He welcomed Putin's announcement about the resumption of negotiations on Ukraine in Istanbul and stated that a comprehensive ceasefire would create the necessary atmosphere for constructive peace talks.
The Turkish leader also noted that a window of opportunity has opened to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
It is noteworthy that Russia has offered Ukraine to resume direct negotiations in Istanbul without preconditions on May 15, which had been interrupted in 2022.
