The Civil Contract Party Is Struggling to Accept Its Defeat in Gyumri, Says Narek Mirzoyan

The powers of Karen Badalyan, a member of the Gyumri alliance 'Our City', have been terminated according to the protocol of the number 31 electoral district electoral commission. The council member mandate has been transferred to Narek Mirzoyan.

According to Narek Mirzoyan, Karen Badalyan submitted a resignation from the alliance, then for various reasons submitted another electronic application indicating his desire to retain the mandate while leaving the 'Our City' alliance. 'The legally stipulated deadlines had expired, meaning the relevant protocol had been completed, and the law no longer allowed it to be retracted, so the commission was obliged to transfer the mandate to the next candidate on the electoral list. Thanks to the persistent efforts of Martun Grigoryan and our council, we reached a point where the commission prepared the relevant protocol and transferred the mandate,' Mirzoyan detailed the process in an interview with 168.am.

He noted that the pre-election situation in Gyumri seems to have calmed down: 'The leadership of the Civil Contract party must take into account the results of the extraordinary elections that took place on March 30, where they suffered defeat.'
'Naturally, the Civil Contract party is struggling to accept its defeat in Gyumri, and they do not acknowledge that after attempts to seize power, they no longer hold authority in Gyumri. They are trying by any means to continue the actions that they believe will lead them to their desired goal—regaining power in Gyumri. This is clear to everyone. The people of Gyumri have expressed their stance and have ruled out the rule of the Civil Contract party in the city. Familiar with the previous methods of the Civil Contract party, our residents have a negative attitude towards any attempt to seize power,' Mirzoyan added.

He also emphasized that the Civil Contract party is trying to create certain tensions, but any attempt at power seizing will be excluded if the teams remain vigilant.
