Mobile Phones Will Be Disabled in the Vatican
During the conclave for the election of a new Pope in Rome, mobile phone signals will be disabled within the territory of the small city-state. This will not affect St. Peter's Square.
The Vatican City State Governor's Office has announced that "starting from May 7 at 15:00, all telecommunication signal transmission systems for operational mobile phones will be disabled within the Vatican territory."
"The signal will be restored after the announcement of the election of the Pope," the office stated.
Tomorrow, 133 cardinals from around the world will gather in the Sistine Chapel to elect a new Pope. They have already arrived in the Vatican.
