Lithuania and Latvia Close Airspace for Serbian President's Plane
The authorities of Latvia and Lithuania have prohibited the flight of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić's plane through their airspace en route to Russia to participate in the celebrations on May 9. This was reported by the Serbian publication Novosti.
According to Lithuanian authorities, the flight carrying Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has been denied due to technical and diplomatic circumstances.
It has also been disclosed today that the Latvian authorities have similarly banned Vučić's flight over their territory to Moscow's Victory Parade. Earlier, Vučić had stated that threats from EU representatives would not change his plans to attend the Moscow Victory Parade.
It is noteworthy that Vučić announced his plans to visit the Russian capital on May 9 back in March. He was invited by Russian President Vladimir Putin. On April 14, European diplomatic chief Kaja Kallas warned that any participation in the Victory Day celebrations in Moscow would be taken seriously, and that countries aspiring to join the European Union should abandon such plans.
