Azerbaijanis Defile Tombstones in Occupied Stepanakert

A video released on April 21, 2025, shows Azerbaijanis once again defiling the tombstones at the memorial complex in occupied Stepanakert. This was reported by the website monumentwatch.org, which conducts monitoring of cultural heritage in Artsakh.

“They have deliberately engraved and erased the faces of freedom fighters depicted on some gravestones, removing their eyes and mouths. Some gravestones are also damaged. The Stepanakert memorial has been under threat of destruction since the complete occupation of Artsakh. Numerous videos feature Azerbaijanis visiting the occupied Stepanakert, calling for the removal of this memorial,” the report states.
