Those Statements Are Destructive: Iran's Foreign Ministry
Statements by the U.S. administration regarding the "full cessation" of Iran's nuclear program are destructive and only obstruct the signing of an agreement. This was stated by the official representative of Iran's Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baghaei, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"Iran has always been an advocate of a diplomatic approach and insists on continuing negotiations for an agreement," the representative of the Foreign Ministry said.
The third round of U.S.-Iran negotiations regarding the republic's nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions against Tehran ended on April 26. The U.S. delegation was led by special envoy Stephen Vitkof to President Donald Trump, while the Iranian delegation was headed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
According to the Omani Foreign Ministry, the parties discussed an agreement that would involve Iran's complete renunciation of nuclear weapons development in exchange for the lifting of sanctions, while preserving Tehran's right to develop peaceful nuclear energy.
