Why Was Nikol Pashinyan, Who Invaded Radiotun, Not Arrested? Clarification from Serzh Sargsyan
Why did we not arrest and detain Pashinyan after he invaded Radiotun? At that time, we did not assess that there were enough people in the streets capable of realizing a change of government. This was stated by the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, during a meeting with students and faculty at the Armenian University.
He emphasized that 'the history of such movements shows that the more force you apply, the more the number of people increases.'
'In 2016, the Sasna Tsrer group took over a military base, and many advised to use significant force to end the situation. I said, how do you envision the state of society after more than 30 corpses? I said, it’s better to risk the situation than the future of the country. Gradually, the issue was resolved, and the guilty received due punishment. In retrospect, one could say that if you had acted this way, everything would have been fine,' noted the third President.
