Serzh Sargsyan Comments on Rumors of Disagreements with Robert Kocharian

The third president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, has commented on rumors of disagreements with the country's second president, Robert Kocharian.

“Leave Kocharian alone. At least, I do not consider him an enemy. My struggle is not to gain authority in Armenia; my struggle is for a change of power in Armenia,” Sargsyan said during a meeting with participants of the Armenian University educational program, responding to a question about whether there are personal, ideological, or other disagreements between him and Kocharian.

According to Sargsyan, there are no countries in the world where former presidents agree 100 percent on everything. Having different opinions on various issues, he said, is normal.

It is noteworthy that on February 17, during a press conference, Robert Kocharian mentioned that the second and third presidents do not have problems, but the reason for not uniting is that such a union would not be effective. This, along with the recent statements by Kocharian's office head Bagrat Mikoyan and the Vice President of the Republican Party of Armenia, Armen Ashotyant, has sparked numerous discussions, with opinions suggesting that the teams of the second and third presidents are in confrontation.
