Zelensky Reveals How Ukraine Benefits from Agreement with the USA

The US-Ukraine deal on rare metals extraction is a reinvestment, with funds that "do not leave" Ukraine, and in 20 years Kyiv will be able to utilize the money from the joint fund created under the agreement with Americans. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as reported by the publication "Strana."

"The logic is that this is a reinvestment. In other words, the funds come here, and you reinvest in Ukraine. The money does not leave Ukraine. Only if the parties agree later that the fund will operate normally in 20 years, develop, extract resources, and not just sell raw materials, but many other things. There are revenues, and everyone is interested," he said.

As noted by the publication, the principles of the joint fund between Ukraine and the USA are currently unknown. Documents released by the Ukrainian government do not indicate any prohibition on withdrawing funds from the fund by the Americans within a certain period.

On April 30, Washington and Kyiv signed a contract concerning rare metals. The agreement envisions the establishment of an investment fund whose activities will be related to the implementation of joint projects in the extraction sector between Ukraine and the USA.
