US Withdraws Troops from Oil Fields in Eastern Syria
The United States has withdrawn its troops from the Al-Omar and Conoco oil fields in the Deir ez-Zor province of eastern Syria. This was reported on Saturday, May 3, by Al Arabiya.
“On Friday, American forces left the oil fields in dozens of trucks that came from Iraqi Kurdistan. The trucks were transporting military equipment and ammunition,” the article states.
American troops also evacuated all their personnel from the Conoco and Omar training bases. Only about 50 soldiers and officers remained at the latter. The publication clarifies that these two bases are among the largest U.S. bases in eastern Syria.
