US Establishes New Military Zone Along Border with Mexico

The US is establishing a new military zone along its border with Mexico, according to a report by Reuters.

The 101-kilometer stretch, extending east of the Texas and New Mexico border in the El Paso area, will allow military personnel to temporarily detain migrants or violators, who will then be handed over to US border patrol or other law enforcement agencies.

Currently, approximately 11,900 military personnel are present at the border.
