Turkey Will Not Open Its Airspace for Netanyahu's Visit to Azerbaijan
Turkey has closed its airspace to Israeli aircraft, and there is no indication that it will open its airspace for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming visit to Azerbaijan. This was stated in a declaration from the Communications Department of the President's Office, which includes a center for combating misinformation.
Netanyahu is set to visit Azerbaijan from May 7 to 11, as previously announced by the Israeli Prime Minister's Office. Various media outlets and social networks have reported that Turkey would allow Netanyahu's plane to fly through its airspace at Baku's request; however, the Turkish government has yet to officially comment on these reports.
In November 2024, Turkey denied permission for Israeli President Isaac Herzog's plane to transit through its airspace to Azerbaijan, where he was scheduled to attend a UN climate summit.
