Lavrov Discusses Tense Situation with Indian Foreign Minister
The Foreign Ministers of Russia and India, Sergey Lavrov and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, discussed the deteriorating relations between India and Pakistan during a phone conversation. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"The heads of the foreign policy agencies discussed current issues of Russian-Indian cooperation, as well as the escalation of India-Pakistan relations following the terrorist attack near Pahalgam," the ministry's website stated.
Lavrov called for the discrepancies between the authorities in New Delhi and Islamabad to be resolved through political and diplomatic means on a bilateral basis, in accordance with the provisions of the 1972 Simla Agreement and the 1999 Lahore Declaration.
