Personal Communication Necessary Between Russia and the USA: State Department
The U.S. State Department has emphasized the importance of personal communication between the leaders of Russia and the United States in addressing the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. During a recent press briefing with reporters, State Department spokesperson Tami Bruce responded to criticisms regarding communications between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Secretary of State Marco Rubio's position is very close to President Trump's stance on this issue, which boils down to the need for people to talk face to face. Diplomacy comes down to making agreements between people, discussing certain issues, and finding common ground,” highlighted the State Department representative.
President Vladimir Putin and Trump had a telephone conversation on March 18, during which they discussed the conditions for a 30-day ceasefire in the ongoing Ukrainian conflict, measures to prevent escalation, and several other international issues.
