He Is Used to Deceiving the World: Vardanyan's Lawyer

The former Prime Minister of Artsakh and philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan's international lawyer, Jared Genser, condemned the brutality and fabrications of Aliyev's regime, which are being used in the attempts to sentence Vardanyan to life imprisonment. Genser made this statement while speaking at the hearing titled “Human Rights in Azerbaijan After the UN Climate Change COP29 Conference” held by the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission of the U.S. Congress.

Genser called for the immediate release of all Armenian prisoners of war. The international lawyer appealed to the Trump administration to intervene and hold Azerbaijan accountable if no action is taken. In his speech, Genser emphasized the ongoing campaign of cultural and religious eradication conducted by Azerbaijan.

The co-chair of the commission, Congressman Chris Smith, addressed the increasing negative responses towards Azerbaijan and Aliyev's authoritarian regime in the world after the COP29 conference. “Aliyev is not all-powerful. He is used to deceiving the world. This must end, and it must end now,” Smith stressed.

Additionally, as one of the main speakers at the hearings, former Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, Artak Beglaryan, addressed the genocide against the people of Artsakh, the crimes against Armenian cultural heritage, and the conditions of Armenian prisoners unlawfully held in Baku.
