If the European Union respects democracy as a principle, it must also honor the results of popular expression, emphasized Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported by TASS.

“How good is that ‘European Commission’ which has adopted predatory methods? If they demonstrate such a ‘slovenly’ attitude toward potential members, what will happen when the state is entirely subjected to the will of these Euro-hoodlums?” Zakharova concluded.

It is worth adding that EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos conveyed to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić the European Commission's warning that his visit to Russia on May 9 will complicate further negotiations regarding EU membership.
