Start Date for Enrollment of First Grad Students Announced

The process for enrolling first-grade students in public schools of Armenia will begin with the verification of the child's and parent's data for accuracy and compliance. From May 5, 2025, parents can check their child's personal data on the website stugum.emis.am to ensure its correctness. This step is crucial to commence the actual enrollment process and avoid potential issues, as reported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (MoESCS).

The actual enrollment will start on June 9 and will be conducted in three phases.

The enrollment process will be managed through the electronic system for enrolling students in schools, operated by the National Center for Educational Technologies of the MoESCS (hayt.emis.am, haytru.emis.am).

First Phase: From June 9, enrollment will be open on the hayt.emis.am website for certain privileged individuals and will last until June 22, inclusive. Parents wishing to enroll their children in Armenian or Russian-language classes can benefit from these privileges. Priority will be given to:

  • Children whose siblings are already enrolled in the same public school,
  • Parents who are staff of that school,
  • Parents who are public sector employees transferred for at least six months due to work obligations, in compliance with the relevant legislation, to a different location within Armenia.
This time limitation does not apply for families included in the vulnerability assessment system living within pedestrian access to the school, as well as for children under guardianship or those with disabilities.

In such cases, a parent must apply to the MoESCS with the necessary documentation to enroll the child at the institution. The enrollment for this group of children is conducted according to the regulation established by the decree No. 1640-N dated November 24, 2010.

Second Phase: Beginning June 24, the enrollment process for first graders will take place on the hayt.emis.am website under general conditions for all first graders in educational institutions offering instruction in Armenian (including foreign citizens, dual citizens, and stateless persons, if one parent belongs to any of these groups while the other is a citizen representing a national minority, seeking to enroll the child in Armenian instruction).

Third Phase: From July 1, enrollment will occur on the haytru.emis.am site for parents seeking Russian-language instruction. This phase pertains to cases where one parent is a foreign citizen, dual citizen, or stateless (or their legal representative), or represents a national minority as an Armenian citizen.

It is noted that for families with twins, triplets, quadruplets, or more, the enrollment of at least one child ensures that the other siblings can also be accepted by the same institution, regardless of the licensing restrictions on available places.

Enrollment will continue throughout the academic year.
