Minister of Internal Affairs on the Process of Issuing ID Cards
As of April 30, we have received 96,900 applications for the issuance of identification cards, and 81,900 identification cards have already been printed. This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, during a government meeting.
According to the minister, these are only the applications that have been entered. There are also citizens waiting in the queuing system who have not yet submitted their applications for the printing process to take place.
"Accordingly, in Yerevan and the provinces, a total of 54,261 individuals are still waiting for their turn to approach the relevant passport division and submit an application for receiving an identification card. If we look at the total, about 151,000 individuals have already obtained an identification card or are waiting in line for us to carry out the printing of the cards," she said.
The minister noted that currently, it is possible to process around 1,000 identification cards per day, but this number will be doubled in the near future: "We have acquired a laser system designed for two new printing devices, which will allow faster printing of identification cards, thereby increasing the capacity significantly."
