Civil Contract Faction Comments on Brawl in Nor Nork Municipality

The Civil Contract faction of the Yerevan City Council has issued a statement regarding the incidents that occurred yesterday and today in the Nor Nork administrative district.

The faction strongly condemns the events that took place in Nor Nork yesterday and today. Verbal abuse, insults, and violence, whether psychological or physical, are unacceptable. It raises concerns that law enforcement agencies have not provided any assessment or undertaken appropriate actions regarding the evident hooligan behavior displayed yesterday in the Nor Nork administrative district building, which led to further provocations and subsequent violence.

Any form of violence, including psychological violence manifested through insults or degradation of an individual's dignity, is intolerable. Such manifestations, in the absence of prevention measures, often lead to physical violence. We find it necessary to emphasize that we have always been and continue to be ready to listen to constructive and even sharp criticism, which, however, needs to be distinguished from insulting and degrading expressions against a person’s dignity,” the statement reads.

Earlier, it was reported that a brawl occurred between employees of the Nor Nork Municipal Hall and activist Arthur Chakhoyan.

It is noteworthy that the Yerevan Municipality has stated in response to the incidents that violence in any form is unacceptable. A criminal case has been initiated concerning the incident that took place within the staff of the Nor Nork administrative district.
