Incredibly Disappointed with Ukrainians and Russians: Pence

U.S. Vice President Jay D. Pence defended the Trump administration's efforts to negotiate a peace agreement. This was reported by The New York Times.

“Sometimes you’re incredibly disappointed with the Ukrainians, and sometimes you’re incredibly disappointed with the Russians,” Pence said.

The Vice President stated that the U.S. team is making progress in the negotiations, but emphasized that a peace agreement is not guaranteed.

“I can’t say with 100 percent confidence that we will be able to do it,” he remarked.

Pence did not discuss the details of the proposed peace agreements but expressed his belief that Ukraine cannot militarily defeat Russia and reclaim its occupied territories by force.

“If this doesn’t stop, the Ukrainians will not win the war. I think there is this strange idea in the mainstream media that if this all continues for another couple of years, the Russians will crumble, the Ukrainians will take back their territories, and everything will go back to the way it was before the war. That is not the reality in which we live,” he emphasized.

According to him, if the war drags on, both Russia and Ukraine will face social collapse, millions of lives could be lost, and the threat of nuclear war would increase.

“This needs to stop. That is this administration's policy, to end it,” Pence stated.
