In That Case, Russian Forces Will Give an Adequate Response: Peskov

Russia has repeatedly called for negotiations to begin without preconditions, but up to now, there has been no response from Kiev. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“Putin has repeatedly said that Russia is ready to start the negotiation process without any preconditions. We have not heard a response from the Kiev regime to this day,” Peskov said.

Recall that yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a decision to declare a ceasefire in connection with the celebrations dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

According to the Kremlin's press service, the armed forces of the Russian Federation will halt military operations for humanitarian reasons from midnight on May 8 to midnight on May 11.

“During this time, all military operations will cease. Russia believes that the Ukrainian side should follow this example. In the event of a ceasefire violation by Kiev, Russian forces will give an adequate and effective response. Moscow once again declares its readiness for peaceful negotiations without preconditions aimed at addressing the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis and constructive cooperation with international partners,” the statement said.
