Azerbaijan's Headquarters Comments on Rumors of $800,000 Mortgage on Representative Office

The building of the Artsakh Republic's representative office operating in Yerevan, which was essentially the property of the Artsakh government, has passed under the management of the Armenian government. According to information from ‘Factinfo’, the former president of Artsakh, Araik Harutyunyan, mortgaged the building at Artsakhbank for $800,000 five years ago.

It is known that last week, following prolonged discussions, the National Assembly made amendments to the Civil Code of the Republic of Armenia, as well as changes regarding the law on the state registration of legal entities, their subdivisions, institutions, and individual entrepreneurs.

Consequently, organizations registered in Nagorno-Karabakh have been given time until December 31, 2024, to re-register in Armenia in order to continue their operations. A question arose regarding properties located in Armenia that are encumbered by existing liabilities. The main thesis of the amendments is that considering the properties located in Armenia continue to be subject to collateral, and the Armenian government has acquired certain obligations, the rights to the properties in terms of collateral are transferred to the government.

Auroranews contacted the Artsakh Information Headquarters, and they stated, “We do not comment.”
