How to Act When You See an Animal Cub: FPWC

Recently, a 2-3 month old male bear cub was transferred to our Wildlife Rescue Center (WRC) from the Vayots Dzor region. The little one was brought into our care through the mediation of the Armenian Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Inspectorate to ensure his professional care.

Currently, our specialists are developing a special rehabilitation program, the ultimate goal of which is to return the cub to its natural habitat. Returning wildlife to nature is a complicated and responsible process that requires numerous skills, patience, and dedication from all members of our team. The animal will only be returned to the wild when specialists are confident that it is fully prepared to survive independently in its natural environment.

FPWC has already had several successful experiences with similar operations, so we hope that this little one’s story will also end in success.

It is important to remember, if you encounter a cub in nature, please do not approach or disturb it, as the mother may be in the area and temporarily away searching for food. Maintain a safe distance and observe the animal from afar. Only when you are certain the animal is injured or has been alone for an extended period (usually more than 24 hours), should you seek professional assistance.

Please contact the FPWC Rescue Center hotline at 08000411 immediately.
