Armenia's First Satellite Crosses Kármán Line
On April 26, 2025, Armenia's first domestically developed satellite, Hayasat-1, created by the Bazumk and the Center for Scientific Innovation and Education, crossed the Kármán line (the conventional boundary of space) for the last time and completed its mission.
“We are deeply proud of Hayasat-1 and grateful to all those who supported this historic mission. This is just the beginning. Since the launch, due to atmospheric resistance, our satellite, like all satellites orbiting close to Earth, has experienced a natural descent of its orbit more rapidly than expected due to record solar activity in recent years, which has further warmed the atmosphere, expanded it, and increased resistance,” the center stated.
“Nevertheless, Hayasat-1 accomplished its mission and provided us with valuable information and experience that will allow us to move forward towards greater and more ambitious goals. We thank the entire Hayasat team for making this historic mission a reality,” it added.
