Survivor's Letter from the Titanic Sets Auction Record
Ofelya
A letter from one of the survivors of the Titanic disaster has been sold at auction for an astronomical sum, reports The Guardian.
The letter, written by a survivor of the Titanic disaster, fetched a record £300,000 (around $400,000) at auction.
Colonel Archibald Gracie, who traveled in first class, penned the letter during the voyage, describing his initial impressions of the steamer.
"It is a magnificent ship, but I will wait until I finish my voyage before I judge it," he wrote.
According to the publication, the final auction price was five times higher than the starting bid and has set a record for all letters ever sold from the Titanic.
