Armed Citizen Attacks Healthcare Workers: Avanesyan

An incident of aggression against healthcare workers fulfilling their professional duties has been recorded. This was reported on the Facebook page of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan.

“The emergency service brigade from Ashtarak was at the call site when an armed citizen attacked the healthcare workers. The ambulance driver was injured. A report has been submitted to the police. I strongly condemn this incident and consider any attempt or manifestation of force and violence against healthcare workers unacceptable,” Avanesyan stated.

“I also want to inform that we are moving towards resolving this issue through legal regulation. The question of criminalizing violence against healthcare workers is being discussed at the initiative of parliamentary deputies. I will also initiate discussions on implementing personal protection measures for ambulance brigades,” Avanesyan added.
