US Considers Resuming Dialogue with North Korea, Axios Reports
The Trump administration is contemplating the possibility of resuming dialogue with North Korean leadership, as reported by Axios, citing senior US officials. According to the publication, American officials are actively consulting with experts on North Korean issues and analyzing various scenarios for engagement with the country's leader, Kim Jong Un.
“A lot has changed in the last four years. We are evaluating, analyzing, and discussing possible paths, including engagement,” a senior US official stated.
As Axios highlights, North Korea has made concerning nuclear advancements since the dramatic but ultimately unsuccessful meetings between President Trump and Kim Jong Un. It has been noted that Trump has clearly indicated his willingness to restart negotiations with Kim Jong Un, potentially face-to-face, and his national security team is preparing for such a scenario.
However, the publication insists that North Korea currently holds a relatively low position on Trump's priority list, but the world's newest nuclear power rarely stays off the international agenda for long.
