Russia Has Not Received Any Proposal from the U.S., Lavrov Says
Russia has not received any proposals from the United States regarding the transfer of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to U.S. and Ukrainian joint management. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with CBS News.
“No, we have not received such a proposal, and if we do receive one, we will explain that the management of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is under the jurisdiction of the Russian state corporation 'Rosatom', under the control of the IAEA personnel who are permanently present and monitoring. If we disregard Ukraine's ongoing attempts to attack the plant and create a nuclear disaster in Europe and Ukraine, the safety requirements are fully maintained. The power plant is in reliable hands,” Lavrov said.
Earlier, Western media reported that Washington proposed to create a neutral zone around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant as part of a peace settlement in Ukraine and to place the plant under U.S. control.
