Putin Orders Emergency Airplanes to Iran

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has ordered the immediate dispatch of several emergency ministry aircraft to Iran to assist in extinguishing a fire that broke out at Shahid Rajaei Port the day before. This was reported by representatives of the Russian Embassy, according to kp.ru.

“The incident occurred due to explosions of several containers stored in the territory of Shahid Rajaei Port. We are currently evacuating and transporting the injured to medical centers,” reported a local official from Iran's crisis management.

The Iranian Ministry of Health has declared a state of emergency in Hormozgan province, urging people to stay indoors, keep windows closed, and wear masks.

The authorities in the country have not officially disclosed what exactly was in the exploded containers, but it has been mentioned that containers with sodium perchlorate exploded in the port. This substance is used in the production of solid rocket fuel.

It is worth noting that the powerful explosion and ensuing fire at Shahid Rajaei Port in the southern Iranian city of Bandar Abbas have resulted in 28 fatalities and injured 1,139 people, according to Pir Hossein Kolivand, head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
