Trump Will Allow Russia to Retain Occupied Territories: The Telegraph

Former US President Donald Trump is prepared to allow Russian President Vladimir Putin to retain nearly all territories seized from Ukraine as part of a proposed peace deal. This was reported by The Telegraph.

According to the publication, this proposal is part of a seven-point plan aimed at halting the war, but does not provide Ukraine with clear security guarantees from the US. The plan is expected to be discussed on Wednesday in London, where US officials will hear Ukraine's response.

Under the proposal, the US is ready to officially recognize Russia's sovereignty over Crimea, as well as effectively accept the retention of other occupied territories by Russia. This would mean a freezing of the front line, allowing Putin to maintain control over almost all currently held areas.

The publication reports that the plan being presented to Ukraine includes certain changes that may be beneficial to Ukraine. In particular, Russia would retreat from its control over two small territories. Ukraine would regain access to the mouth of the Dnieper River, while Russia would leave a second area in the Kherson region.

US Special Envoy General Keith Kellogg hopes to secure Ukraine's agreement to the plan. His counterpart, Steve Witkoff, will subsequently travel to Moscow to present the plan to Vladimir Putin.
