World's Most Dangerous Fish Appears in Armenian Market: An Alert

World's most dangerous fish for food, the Pangasius fish, has reappeared in the Armenian market. This was reported by agricultural expert and businessman Harutyun Mnatsakanyan on his Facebook page.

"As the most dangerous food fish globally, the Pangasius fish is primarily farmed in Southeast Asia, and its import and use are banned in most European and American countries. This fish is mostly farmed in Vietnam's Mekong River, notorious for its unacceptable pollution levels (the river is contaminated with industrial waste, sewage, trash, etc.). In addition to the river's pollution, these fish are fed various hormones and antibiotics.

For a time, it began to be actively imported to Armenia and became widespread in markets due to its low price. Thanks to the active efforts of conscientious individuals, including Babken Pipoyan, along with cooperation with ANRA (Armenian National Food Safety Service), the importation of this fish species was halted. However, today I again see this fish in the market, at quite an affordable price.

I urge ANRA to take all possible measures to prevent the import of this fish species to Armenia, and I strongly advise our compatriots not to purchase meat from this species, as it is very dangerous," wrote the agricultural expert.
