Mamijanyan's Response to Vahagn Aleksanyan's Speech

“Do not try to attribute to us your 'justly' earned labels of traitors and deniers; those 'titles' are eternally yours.” This was written on Facebook by MP Haik Mamijanyan from the 'I Have Honor' parliamentary group.

“Vahagn Aleksanyan spoke yet another lie from the podium of the National Assembly regarding the content of the phone conversation between the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, and then Vice President Joe Biden. I am posting the denial disseminated by the US Embassy in Armenia back in 2010. (Link in comments)

“President Sargsyan did not discuss the content of President Obama's April 24 message and did not attempt to postpone consideration of the House of Representatives resolution 252. On the contrary, the conversations between Vice President Biden and President Sargsyan were about the urgent need to take action to regulate Armenian-Turkish relations. The two leaders agreed that Armenian-Turkish relations should be normalized without preconditions.”

Here is also about the content of the telephone conversations. “The US Vice President and President Sargsyan spoke twice in April 2009. During these conversations, the Vice President told President Sargsyan that the United States believes that the normalization of relations with Turkey and the opening of borders would pave the way for a better future for Armenia and expressed the United States' support for his leadership. The Vice President conveyed the Obama administration's support regarding progress on the joint declaration on the normalization of relations based on Switzerland’s offer.”
