Discounts to be Introduced for Waste Collection Charges

Discounts will be implemented for waste collection charges for several groups of residents in Yerevan. The proposal was presented today at a session of the Yerevan City Council by acting head of the Department of Income Accounting and Collection, Davit Hakobyan. "Following the establishment of a method for calculating the rate of waste collection fees for buildings and structures intended for residential purposes, it is proposed to set a waste collection fee exemption for certain groups of individuals, as well as for owners of residential buildings and structures consuming up to 10 kWh of electricity per month and larger areas," he noted.

According to the proposal, the exemptions will apply to the following groups: family members (children, parents, and spouses) of individuals who were killed, captured, or recognized as missing or deceased during the Artsakh wars, as well as during combat operations and special missions executed within the Republic of Armenia’s defense; military personnel who have acquired a deep or severe degree of limitation of functionality or first or second group disabilities during military operations. In waste collection works organized for residential buildings and structures to be executed in 2025, an exemption will be applied where the local fee rate is set to zero for residents classified as the aforementioned.

Additionally, for residential buildings and structures belonging to individuals classified under the state's social security legislation as single and retired, an exemption will also be implemented.

For residential buildings and structures consuming up to 10 kWh of electricity, an exemption will apply with a zero-rate on the local fee for waste collection works organized for 2025. For apartments in multi-apartment or multi-functional buildings, a local fee discount of 50% will apply for each square meter exceeding a total area of 65 square meters.

For individual residential houses, villas, garden houses (summer houses), auxiliary and economic buildings, and for apartments in a multi-apartment or multi-functional building, a 75% reduction will be applied for each square meter exceeding 75 square meters. For garages and other similar structures, waste collection works will be organized with a zero-rate fee for the 2025 local fee rate.
