Another Drug Shipment Discovered: Ministry of Internal Affairs

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports: "On April 18, 2025, operational information was received at the Regional Department of Criminal Police of Vayots Dzor regarding the acquisition and sale of narcotics. According to Criminal Police officer Arthur Avetisyan, a 54-year-old man residing on Spandaryan Street in Yeghegnadzor illegally obtained a large quantity of drugs, part of which he kept at a metal scrap collection point on Yerevan Highway in Yeghegnadzor, while the other part was intended for sale for 100,000 drams to two men from Yerevan and Ashtarak in the village of Yeraskh, Ararat region.

The criminal police of Vayots Dzor collaborated with employees of the National Security Service, Criminal Police of Ararat regional department, local police of the Ararat division, and patrolling officers serving the region to successfully implement measures against illegal drug trafficking. As a result of joint operations, on the same day in the village of Armash in Ararat region, a 57-year-old man from Ashtarak and a 55-year-old man residing in the capital were arrested, who, according to the data, had purchased drugs from the resident of Yeghegnadzor for 100,000 drams.

On the same day, law enforcement officers discovered and arrested the 54-year-old resident of Yeghegnadzor in the village of Areni in Vayots Dzor region. From the case of his mobile phone, a substance resembling methamphetamine was found, and in his vehicle, a Makarov pistol was present. Approximately 6 kilograms and 250 grams of marijuana were discovered in 9 packages at the metal scrap collection point operated by him on Yerevan Highway in Yeghegnadzor.

A package of marijuana weighing a total of 21 grams was found in the vehicle of a Yerevan resident arrested on suspicion of acquiring drugs from the Yeghegnadzor resident. A criminal case has been initiated under several articles of the Criminal Code in relation to the incident. The 54-year-old man from Yeghegnadzor has been detained and transferred to a correctional institution. The circumstances are being investigated.
