US-Iran Negotiations: Details
The Washington administration believes that progress has been made in negotiations between the US and Iran in Rome. An American official stated this to reporters, according to TASS. “During the second phase of negotiations in Rome today, lasting over four hours, we have recorded very good progress in both direct and indirect discussions. We have agreed to meet again next week and are grateful to our Omani partners for their support in the negotiations, as well as to our Italian partners for hosting us,” the official added.
It should be noted that as a result of the second phase, Oman’s foreign ministry announced that the US and Iran are discussing an agreement that would allow the Islamic Republic to maintain the potential for the development of peaceful nuclear energy. The negotiations are expected to ensure Tehran's commitment to refrain from developing nuclear weapons and the lifting of imposed sanctions against it.
