The Created Complex Situation is Becoming More Severe: Karekin II

In the context of current alarming geopolitical developments, our national and domestic life is facing serious challenges. This was stated by His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, during his message at the Easter liturgy held at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

“In our collective memory, the genocide that took place in the Ottoman Empire over 110 years ago continues to remain an open wound, whose unfading pain deepens with the condemnable attempts to deny or cast doubt upon this horrific crime, as well as with the new genocidal actions occurring around the world,” he said.

The Catholicos urged to prioritize the interests of the nation over personal and group ambitions, rejecting harmful actions imposed on the homeland. “Let us reject falsehoods and deceit from our lives, completely distancing ourselves from destructive morals and acts that demean and devalue our past and historical memories, jeopardizing our future,” he emphasized. “Let us unite around our beliefs, identity, values, history, and a collective vision for our state and future, which binds us together as a nation, Armenia and the Diaspora.”

Karekin II noted that one of the manifestations of these atrocities was the recent genocide committed against our people—the seizure of Artsakh and the forced displacement of Armenians from their native land.

According to him, the complex situation created by security challenges is becoming even more severe due to internal divisions and new crises. Today, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the Feast of the Resurrection. In the morning, services are held in churches, followed by the ceremony of Anointing and the festive Divine Liturgy.
