Wallace and Rubio Defend the Idea of Striking Iranian Targets
The U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Wallace and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have defended the idea of conducting military strikes on Iranian targets, potentially linked to the development of nuclear weapons. This was reported by The Washington Post, citing anonymous officials.
At the same time, President Trump has heard views from proponents of a diplomatic solution to the issue, including journalist Tucker Carlson. Advocates of a more restrained approach argue that U.S. intelligence assessments suggest Tehran does not intend to develop nuclear weapons and that bombarding Iran could likely lead to a broader regional war.
Previously, Iran expressed confidence that the parties involved in negotiations over Tehran's nuclear program would be able to reach an agreement. The next round of negotiations between Iranian and U.S. delegations aimed at resolving disagreements over Tehran's nuclear program is set to take place on April 19 in Rome.
