We Do Not Need Mediators - Mirzoyan
Thus, we have a choice. We can focus on obstacles, on the past, on history, or we can focus on the present and build a better future together. This was stated by Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in an interview with Turkish media.
“You see, the brief history of Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiations shows that there have been several facilitators, mediators in the process, such as the Russian Federation, the United States, the European Union, and various countries. But the history of Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiations indicates that when we had bilateral negotiations, those negotiations have been the most successful. Therefore, perhaps all those countries that are interested in peace in the South Caucasus, that are interested in peace in Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, can somehow participate in this process. But when it comes to specific negotiations, when we are alone—two countries in one room—we can, we have the opportunity to speak directly, we have communications, we easily exchange ideas.
In other words, technically we have no problems. Therefore, probably, we do not need any other mediation. But again, all the countries I mentioned, and perhaps a few more, can make a positive contribution. Thus, involvement should not be limited only to mediation in negotiations,” Mirzoyan said.
