US Cancels Funding for Certain Programs, Including in Armenia

The US Department of State has canceled funding for foreign aid programs in various countries, including Armenia, the United Kingdom, Belarus, Moldova, and Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the US Government's Office of Effectiveness (DOGE).

“Secretary of State Marco Rubio continues to carefully review the foreign assistance provided by the Department of State. Today, the cancellation of 139 purposeless grants totaling $215 million was announced,” the statement from the office noted on social media platform X.

The US Government's Office of Effectiveness mentioned additional canceled grants, one of which pertains to Armenia. This involves a $2 million program aimed at 'Promoting Democratic Culture' in Armenia.

Funding reductions have also affected grants in the United Kingdom amounting to $5.2 million, Uzbekistan $2.5 million, Belarus $2.4 million, Moldova $2 million, Kyrgyzstan $750,000, and several other programs.
