This is a true theater of absurdity: Zakharova
Ukrainian President Zelensky's intention to invite EU leaders to Kyiv on May 9 is a true theater of absurdity. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"The expression we have been using since around 2013 is 'theater of absurdity.' For more than ten years, this phrase has described the numerous events, decisions, and statements coming from the so-called collective West,” she said.
According to Politico, the Ukrainian government has invited European leaders and high-ranking officials to Kyiv on May 9. The purpose of this invitation is to demonstrate a counterbalance to Russia and to divert attention from the parade in Moscow dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory Day.
Additionally, it should be noted that in 2023, Zelensky changed the date of the commemoration of Victory Day from May 9 to May 8, renaming the celebration to the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism.
