Luxury that Could Not Be Afforded for 33 Years: Pashinyan

Citizens entering and exiting Armenia undergo passport control solely by the armed forces of the RA border guard, a luxury that our state could not afford for 33 years. This was announced by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the National Assembly.

According to him, they have created a system for the confiscation of illegally acquired property and a system for the protection of community interests by the prosecutor's office, which are integral parts of the legal order in Armenia.

“These processes extract the return of stolen property from the realm of emotions and political expediency,” he noted. Pashinyan also added that the ruling Civil Contract Party has not taken the confiscation system into its own hands but has created a system for the state and the people that will operate indefinitely.

According to the Prime Minister, more than $1.7 billion worth of apparently illegally acquired property is currently under arrest. Nikol Pashinyan assured that they have neither lost their spirit nor fear thieves.

“We care about our state and our people because any actions resembling lawlessness or vendetta could cause such damage to our state's international image and reputation, to our economy and investment environment, that even tens of billions of dollars would not be enough to restore that harm, increasing the vulnerabilities of external security that are already fragile. Thus, going down such a path would mean acting against the state's interests,” he declared.
