34 days ago, Ukraine positively responded to the U.S. proposal for a complete and unconditional ceasefire, yet for 34 days, Russia has openly refused to halt hostilities. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as reported by The New York Times.

“The reason for all of this is simple: Moscow is not afraid. If there is not enough strong pressure on Russia, they will continue to do what they are used to – they will keep waging war. We all want this to end. We need peace, and it must be lasting. That is why Ukraine is always working constructively with its partners in all formats that can bring security and restore peace.

Ukraine has never wanted this war, not for a single moment. And when the war ends, the world will clearly know that this happened because the aggressor, Russia, has been forced into peace. The same aggressor that came onto Ukrainian soil in 2014, 11 years ago. And it is important for everyone that this does not last for more years,” he stated.

According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to focus on prolonging the war, and the Russian state propaganda machine is preparing its audience for the idea that diplomacy will yield no results.
