Government Ready to Provide Support to Artsakh Residents, Council Member
Today, unfortunately, our substantial arguments have not been accepted for longer-term solutions. This was stated by Nzhdeh Iskandaryan, a member of the Council for the Protection of the Rights of Artsakh Residents, after a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan.
“There were also proposals from their side that we did not accept, but there were still points of agreement. The government is ready to extend the support of 40,000 drams for another 2 months; there has been a partial setback. There can be no talk of a 50,000 dram support program, only 40,000 drams for each individual,” he said.
Iskandaryan noted that they are also ready to form professional groups. “We will discuss all issues related to social and housing programs. They have accepted that they have failed the program; we have presented the facts in numerical form. Regarding the cultural heritage aspect, which also requires external political direction, they are also ready to discuss,” he mentioned.
Iskandaryan informed that they will take numerous steps concerning the 11 points of their presented petition. He emphasized, “Today we were supposed to issue a statement about a rally, but another 2-3 days are needed to organize a meeting with our concerned citizens from Artsakh to understand their position regarding this program, after which the council will issue a statement. The issue, of course, will continue to remain here. We have clearly stated our stance: this is not just a social demand; we will be speaking about collective return and the issue of captives, and our struggle will continue. The format may change, but the struggle will go on.”
