Mirzoyan States Proposals Made to Azerbaijan
Armenia has made a very specific proposal to Azerbaijan regarding the opening of communications, yet there has been no positive response. This was stated by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a discussion with partners from Azerbaijan and Georgia at the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.
“We have made a proposal to Azerbaijan concerning communications, under which they would gain access to our railway infrastructure, and we to theirs. We understand that the 45-kilometer section in the south of Armenia is clearly the shortest route to connect the two parts of Azerbaijan. We proposed to use electronic devices that would allow avoiding physical checks of the cargo, enabling electronic declarations through which the necessary information will be transferred between the relevant departments, so that the transit process is as swift as possible. We have made a very specific proposal, but there has been no positive response. Perhaps they have concerns, I do not know, but this is a matter of choice,” said Mirzoyan.
