Trump Issues Statement

More than 75 countries will have the imposition of mirror tariffs suspended for 90 days, as these countries have not taken retaliatory measures against Washington. This was announced by US President Donald Trump on the Truth Social network.

“Given that more than 75 countries have approached US representatives and that those countries, at my request, have not taken any retaliatory measures against the US, I hereby confirm a 90-day suspension and a substantial 10% reduction of reciprocal tariffs for that period, which will also go into effect immediately,” wrote the US leader.

On April 2, Trump signed an order to establish reciprocal tariffs for goods imported from other countries. The base minimum tariff rate will be 10%. Furthermore, a higher tariff rate has been set for most countries, which, according to clarifications from the Office of the United States Trade Representative, has been calculated based on the trade deficit indicators with a specific country to achieve balance instead of deficit.

Earlier, the White House press service denied media reports that the US administration was considering the possibility of declaring a 90-day pause in the application of new import tariffs.
