Melikbekyan on His Salary at UEFA
My salary at UEFA is not 20,000 euros; I cannot disclose how much it is, as it is confidential. Where did you get that information? You are lying. The media outlets that write about this are not substantiated. If Arthur Soghomonyan says that, it is false. Generally, every word spoken by Arthur Soghomonyan is a lie and unfounded. He cannot say anything correct about Armenian football. These are all minor manipulations.
This was stated by the president of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA), Armen Melikbekyan, during a press conference.
“I have already talked and presented my views regarding resignation; I no longer wish to address that. I also do not want to talk about the games with Georgia anymore. I think about these two games and their results every day,” said Armen Melikbekyan.
When asked how he is “better” than the former president of the FFA, Ruben Hayrapetyan, whom his teammates forced to resign, Armen Melikbekyan evaded the question.
“I am not from any team; do not associate me with any team. You probably do not grasp the situation well,” responded Armen Melikbekyan.
FFA Vice President Armen Nikoghosyan elaborated that the resignation of former FFA president Arthur Vanetsyan was a political event. “For the first time in Armenia, politicians no longer have any connection with the football federation. No matter how much they may love football or want to support it, there are no politicians in the federation today. Arthur Vanetsyan did not resign due to a 1:9 defeat; it was a political situation,” elucidated Armen Nikoghosyan.
During the press conference, the FFA president discussed allegations of match-fixing and the claims regarding releasing military service through BCMA, as well as the possible match-fixing between Gandzasar and BCMA that has been circulating recently. “The FFA has been the first organization to fight against match-fixing. Regarding the Gandzasar – BCMA match, if we receive a document from UEFA that will allow us to disqualify and initiate criminal proceedings, we will gladly do so,” noted Armen Melikbekyan.
