US Activates Aerial Reconnaissance
The United States will deploy MQ-4C Triton reconnaissance drones in Japan's southern Okinawa Prefecture, as reported by Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani to journalists. This was reported by the Kyodo news agency.
"The purpose of this decision is to enhance information gathering within the framework of the Japan-U.S. alliance," the minister stated.
Additionally, the deployment of drones at the American Kadena Air Base will begin in the coming weeks, for an indefinite duration.
Since 2023, MQ-9 Reaper drones have been stationed at this air base. Starting from May 2024, U.S. military personnel have stationed two MQ-4C Tritons at the airbase. The number of devices planned for deployment this time has not been specified.
