This is an Imposition We Will Not Accept: Araqchi
Iranian authorities have opted to conduct negotiations with the United States through intermediaries to avoid pressure from Washington and do not plan to change the format following the meeting in Oman. This was stated by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"The choice of the negotiation format is influenced by the fact that we do not accept a negotiation approach where they impose their viewpoint through threats and pressure. That is an imposition. Negotiating through intermediaries can ensure a genuine and productive dialogue. And we have no agreement to subsequently transform them into direct negotiations," Araqchi said.
Earlier, Araqchi stated that on April 12, Tehran and Washington would hold high-level indirect negotiations in Oman. U.S. President Donald Trump also commented on the talks set to take place in Oman but described them as direct negotiations.
